Where the volume concentrates
Michigan's population, and its dental search volume, is not spread evenly. Metro Detroit alone accounts for more than 4.3 million people across Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. It carries the most volume, the most competitors, and the hardest rankings in Michigan. Grand Rapids forms a clear second tier on the west side, Lansing, Flint, and Ann Arbor make up a competitive middle, and Kalamazoo and Saginaw are smaller, winnable markets where a single practice can realistically own the local map.
Spend should track that distribution closely. Competing in Troy or Royal Oak is a different game than competing in Saginaw, and a strategy that ignores the difference wastes budget in both directions.
