Where the state's search volume lives
New York's population, and its dental search volume, is heavily concentrated. The New York City metro alone holds roughly 19.5 million people across the five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester. It carries the most search volume, the most competition, and by far the hardest local rankings in the country. Buffalo, Rochester, and Albany form a clear upstate second tier, while Syracuse, the Hudson Valley corridor around Poughkeepsie, Utica, and Binghamton are smaller markets where a single practice can realistically own the local map.
That map should decide where the money goes. Competing in Manhattan or Brooklyn is a different game than competing in Utica, and a strategy that ignores the difference wastes budget in both directions.
