How this is calculated

The math behind the numbers

This calculator keeps the model simple and transparent so you can sanity-check it yourself:

  • New patients per month = monthly budget divided by your cost per new patient.
  • Monthly revenue = new patients multiplied by the average value of a new patient.
  • Net gain = monthly revenue minus your marketing budget.
  • Return multiple = monthly revenue divided by your marketing budget.

Cost per new patient of $150 to $300 reflects published averages across dental marketing channels. Everything is an estimate; your real numbers will depend on your market, offer, and front-desk follow-up.

ROI calculator FAQs

How does the ROI calculator work?

It takes your monthly marketing budget and divides it by your cost per new patient to estimate how many new patients that budget should produce. It multiplies those patients by the average value of a new patient to get revenue, then compares revenue to spend for your return multiple.

What should I use for cost per new patient?

Across channels, dental practices typically spend $150 to $300 in marketing to acquire one new patient. If you know your own number from call tracking, use it. If not, $250 is a reasonable middle-of-the-road starting point.

Should I use first-year value or lifetime value?

First-year value keeps the estimate conservative and is the safer default. If you want to see the full picture, run your numbers through our Patient Lifetime Value tool and plug that figure in instead. The return will look much larger, because a patient is worth far more than their first visit.

Are these numbers a guarantee?

No. This is an estimate based on the numbers you enter. Real results depend on your local market, your offer, the quality of your website and campaigns, and how well your front desk converts the calls and forms we generate.
